kenysl.com @ OPPO N1 Launch Event

As I have mentioned in the post a week ago, I was invited to attend the OPPO N1 Launch event happening at 18th February, KLCC.
Unfortunately, I was sitting for an exam (and a rather important paper too) at that moment of time so I asked two of my friends, who might I add, are very acquainted with Android and technology in general, Li Sheng and Yi Bin to represent poor Ken to the event. So I will start off with a note of gratitude for both of these savvy gentlemen for making this post even remotely possible.

We start off the event with a ton of dances, because you know, we are all here for the dances with phones in the background.

After the exciting variety of dances, OPPO Malaysia's Brand Manager, Lu Chen took over the stage. She mentioned about OPPO's partnership with CyanogenMod, which I guess only a few in the audience knew what she was talking about.

Then we get a N1 feature explanation and demonstration from OPPO's Product Manager, Candice Liu.

After the demonstration, Liu passes the stage to OPPO Malaysia's CEO, William Fang for a speech which briefly explains what is OPPO, the motto and vision of the company etc. He also mentioned that OPPO doesn't fear the competition from other phone manufacturers, reason being he believes that OPPO is an innovator in the industry, which is true seeing they are taking a lot of 'First' titles compared to other manufacturers. He also mentioned that OPPO Malaysia will try and control the price of the OPPO N1 at RM1798 to avoid price dumping; this certainly pleases a lot of the phone dealers attending the event but we consumers will not get to ask "PM best price" in forums anymore. After the speech, he somehow transitioned into asking the entire management team onto the stage for a dance. Seems like OPPO likes dancing a lot...

The OPPO N1
That pretty much sums up the entire event before the press conference. Personally, I find the N1 as a very intriguing phone and the skinned OS isn't bothering me as much as other skins. This phone is certainly in my list of consideration when I'm going to renew my contract. Or you know, OPPO, you can send me one instead hahahaha.

RUMOUR MILL

Calling this section the rumour mill because personally without any official announcements from OPPO Malaysia, I don't want to jump the gun. So apparently one of my friends got to talk with OPPO Malaysia's CEO, William Fang for a brief moment and got some answers to questions only true warriors would ask.

If you have been following OPPO on it's Instagram or other social media platforms, you would know that the Find 7 is coming out sometime soon, and sites speculate that it would be officially announced around March. But hey, that ain't important, we want to know when it will land on Malaysian territory! Apparently, Fang when asked about when the Find 7 will hit the shores of Malaysia, answered that the Find 7 will arrive as soon as May. Oh ain't that juicy.

For those who have been following the newsfeed for the OPPO N1, you might have heard that the N1 was released in two flavours, one with the ColorOS skin and another running everyone's favourite Android derivative, CyanogenMod 10.2 and might be wondering if the latter would be released in Malaysia. When asked about it, Fang replied that if there was enough interest, OPPO Malaysia will bring in the CM flavoured N1 into the country! So if any of you flashers are interested, do check out their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/malaysiaoppo and show them your love for the cyan colour!
